EV Star
GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete line of medium- and heavy-duty all-electric vehicles, including lower-floor and high-floor models. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their most popular vehicle and can be adapted to meet a variety of applications. The platform's clean sheet design allows for optimal battery pack placement and lower center of gravity, resulting in better payload-to-range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries and catering applications. The class 4 refrigerated truck's one interior wall structure and higher insulation than traditional trucks enable seamless sanitation, improved temperature control and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX has a higher capacity for cargo and an industry-leading payload to allow for zero emission goods or passenger transportation.
GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems. This will enable fleets to easily transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able to support wireless charging up to 75 kW.
greenpower mobility were allowed to test drive the EV9 on the local highway for a few hours and found it to be easy to drive, and comfortable to drive over long distances. The EV9 can be used to block the sound of traffic and wind on the highway. It glides effortlessly over bumps and ruts. The acceleration is extremely quick and the vehicle has adjustable regenerative braking to enable "one pedal driving" by simply taking off the accelerator.
The EV9 offers a great range and can be charged within three hours or less at home, or by using any commercial charger. Drivers can select between two operating modes that include eco mode and sports mode. The eco mode prioritizes the cruise control and torque, while the sport mode is designed to maximize speed and handling. Both are a lot of fun to drive and provide an unique experience for those who have never been in an electric vehicle before.
GreenPower provides a variety of other EVs, including a multipurpose all-electric minibus, called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be utilized as an executive shuttle, transit or micro-transit vanpool, bus, or a paratransit vehicle.
GreenPower is already producing about 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is attempting to replace their fleet of older diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the needs of the Biden Administration who is planning to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested in Altoona and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA certified. This means they will be eligible for federal transit assistance grants. We will be following the AV Star as it begins its public demonstration tour the coming months. We will provide more details on this exciting EV.
